Kathleen’s love for music sparked early — her gift for playing melodies by ear was evident from the moment she could reach the keys. At just three years old, she began piano lessons with her father, laying the foundation for formal training at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in 1981, under the guidance of Peteris Zarins. Her artistry was further shaped through studies with Monika Kasprzak, Lusiana Lukman, and Lynda Metelsky, each adding new dimensions to her musicianship.

Her passion extends beyond the piano. A dedicated vocalist, Kathleen has trained with Gabriela Rodgers and Diane Gorun and is currently studying with Karen Hu. In August 2025, she achieved First Class Honours with Distinction (93%) in her RCM Grade 1 Vocal exam — a milestone that reflects her commitment to continual growth. She is steadily advancing through the RCM vocal curriculum toward higher levels and preparing to expand her teaching to include vocal students, bringing the same creativity, technical expertise, and supportive approach that have defined her piano instruction.

After earning her RCM Grade 9 Piano certification in the summer of 1994, Kathleen began her teaching career that fall at Walter’s Music Studios in Brampton at just 17 years old, before opening her own private studio in the fall of 1996. Known for blending precision with playfulness, she makes learning both rewarding and fun. She earned First Class Honours in Elementary Pedagogy (2009) with an overall score of 85%, received her Elementary Specialist Certificate (2015), and is working toward her ARCT Diploma in Piano Pedagogy while continuing her vocal studies.

Kathleen’s love of learning extends far beyond music. She has performed at public events and enjoys reading, photography, dance, kayaking, and skiing. A dedicated competitive taekwondoin, she returned to the sport after a 30‑year hiatus and earned recognition in multiple tournaments. On May 17, 2025, she reached a major milestone by achieving her First Dan Black Belt.

In addition to her musical and martial arts pursuits, Kathleen is a committed Registered Nurse. Her drive for lifelong learning and her diverse expertise inspire both her students and her patients, making her a well‑rounded and impactful presence in every community she serves.
