Kathleen - Piano Teacher

Music has always been a part of Kathleen's life. From a very young age, she could play simple melodies by ear. She began learning the piano from her father when she was three years old. At age 5, she went on to obtain formal instruction with Peteris Zarins at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Since then, she has also worked alongside Monika Kasprzak, Lusiana Lukman, and esteemed pedagogue Lynda Metelsky to obtain her Elementary Pedagogy status in 2009. In 2015 she received her Elementary Specialist Certificate and is currently working on her ARCT Diploma in Pedagogy. In 2019 Kathleen became a member of the Milton Music Teachers' Association (MMTA).

Kathleen's teaching career began in 1994 at the age of 17. She worked at Walter's Music Studios in Brampton, Ontario until 1997. In 1996, Kathleen also opened up her private studio and has been steadily teaching since.

She combines a thorough understanding of art and technique and throws a dash of humour in her lessons. "The key to getting people engaged in learning is to make things fun, interesting, and easy," she says. She has taught a wide variety of students, from ages 4 to 66. Lessons are very interactive, and she encourages students to be fully involved in their learning.

Additionally, Kathleen is also available to perform at various functions and has been a regular guest with Women's Habitat from 2012-2017, providing musical entertainment for their various events and fundraisers.

Aside from music, Kathleen also enjoys reading, photography, dance, kayaking, and skiing. She is also a Registered Nurse.
